Winter in Boston: Ice rinks, warm drinks, and tons of people outside

Winter weather doesn’t stop people from being outside, just ask Boston’s most innovative real estate developers

As the days are getting shorter and the temperatures are falling this winter, it’s easy to imagine spending more time inside at home, snuggled up with some Netflix, eating food that was delivered. But that’s not the case in neighborhoods like Fenway, Kendall Square, and Seaport where our partners–innovative real estate developers including BioMed, WS Development, and Samuels & Associates–are doubling down on the winter season and creating experiences that make cold cool.

Steve Samuels, founder and chairman of Samuels & Associates, puts it best when describing the new ice rink in the heart of Fenway at 401 Park: “When we said we envisioned 401 Park as an all-seasons hub, we meant it. That means providing an innovative space that engages with and brings together all generations no matter the weather. What better way to celebrate the season than with one of the most quintessential wintertime activities.”

The concept of creating year round experiences in neighborhoods is something we value at Soofa. When you walk by the neighborhood news feed in the summer you may see events like yoga in the park or a 5K run; in the winter time those events may be ice skating or exhibitions of ice sculptures from local artists, or winter themed cocktails to enjoy outside under the warmth of heaters, surrounded by friends.

People in the city don’t hibernate indoors all winter. They are still looking for fun experiences and places to go with friends.

The ice rink in the Seaport will undoubtedly be one of those places for people living in and visiting Boston this winter. “The 100 x 60 foot rink, which is scheduled to be open from December through February, will be accompanied by an outdoor deck, tree market, and warming tent where alcohol is expected to be available.”

The outdoor winter market in Kendall Square’s Canal District by BioMed will bring people of all ages together for an afternoon of activities, shopping, and browsing art from local artists. The winter market is also a collaboration with CultureHouse, one of our favorite Soofa advertisers in Kendall Square. With the help of the neighborhood news feed, BioMed and its partners like CultureHouse and Albertine Press are able to inform people who work and live in Kendall Square about the winter market and other upcoming events in the Canal District.

Don’t miss out on the opportunity to reach people in the moment this holiday season.
