A New Report Shows What Marketers Think About Carbon Neutral Advertising

Sustainable business practices are becoming increasingly popular as brands begin to pay more attention to their own carbon footprint. Recently, more attention than ever is being given to carbon neutral advertising, with carbon emissions becoming a new hot-button KPI.

In a new article by Media Post, Madison Avenue conducted a study where “nearly two-thirds (61%) of marketers are now tracking the carbon emissions generated by their digital advertising campaigns.” This is measured with what they call a "carbon performance indicator."

They identified that “more than a third of marketers (37%) believe reducing carbon emissions is less important than generating a high ROI on their digital ad campaigns, compared with only a quarter (26%) of agency execs who feel that way.”

Though “76% of marketers said the industry has to do more to reduce carbon”, not many are sure how to start accomplishing it.
